As reported by the CBC News, the Historic St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Manitoba had its church bell and memorial plaques stolen around the dates of May 29 to June 12 of 2022. The bronze bell of the bell tower of the Trembowla Cross of Freedom Museum and, St. Michaels Ukrainian Catholic Church was stolen after being knocked down. Subsequently the bronze memorial plaques outside of the Church were also taken. The Church bell is from the oldest surviving Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canada.

As recorded by the Manitoba Historical Society Archives. The settlement was first stablished in 1896, when Ukrainian Catholics first came to Dauphin, they erected a large Cross of Freedom to commemorate their new land in Canada. A year later, Reverend Dmytriw consecrated their cemetery and oversaw the building of a church. This church was St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Later on a school, granary and pioneer home were also donated to the museum.
