Tres-Saint-Cœur-de-Marie Cemetery Statues Damaged in Chambly, Quebec

Reported by Journal de Chambly, the Tres-Saint-Coeur-de-Marie cemetery in Chambly was targeted by vandals.

Two statues at the scene of the Crucifixion, one of Mother Mary and another were knocked over on May 22, 2023.

The churchwarden, Manon Asselin explained at an employee had noticed the damage when a burial was occurring. The parish will most likely call a service to fix up the statues back to their right position and put them on pedestals.

In 2021, another incident had happened where youths knocked over headstones. Consequently they were caught and parents were made aware of the situation. They were then given the opportunity to clean up the scene and the cemetery refrained from filing complaints for that incident.
