Our Lady of the Snows Church Burns Down in Colville Lake NWT

On September 16, 2025, it was reported by Cabin Radio that the Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, a log cabin church was burned down.

The church was located in Colville Lake, Northwest Territories. One of the residents, Joey Kochon had taken a photo of the church, showing that the entirety had burnt down.

Fort Good Hope RCMP detachment responded to the call at 7:09 a.m. Investigation at this time suggests that the cause of the fire is not known. Information on the cause is limited. There were no reports of injury.

Bishop Jon Hansen of the Mackenzie-Fort Smith says that, "the diocese deeply regrets the loss of the beautiful and historic Our Lady of the Snows church in Colville Lake." Bishop Hansen said the diocese will work with the community to help go forward after the loss.
