As reported by CBC News the Former St. Bernard Catholic Church in Nova Scotia suffered a complete arson to the rectory on the property of the church.

The fire started around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, reported by the RCMP. When forces arrived the entire building was up in flames. No one was in the rectory at the time.

The rectory had been previously sold by the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth in 2022 to a private owner. The church had been deconsecrated and bought by the Nation Prospère Acadie and la Société Héritage Saint-Bernard in 2023.

The RCMP have opened an investigation into the cause of the fire.
