Attempted Arson at Holy Rosary Church in Washabuck N.S

As reported by SaltWire, a resident named Carmie MacLean was driving by Holy Rosary Church when she saw what appeared to be black marks on the side of the building of the church.

On May 11, MacLean was driving by the church and got out of her car to investigate what she felt might have been an attempted arson. She states that it looked as though someone had thrown gasoline down and tried to set a fire.

Baddeck RCMP were contacted and now investigating the matter. There was no other damage discovered and most likely paint will be used to cover the burn marks.

The church is not in use but is still a focal point to the community. It still holds weddings and funerals. The church was built in 1909.
