Church

On April 1, 2025 RCMP respond to the call that the historic church bell from Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church had been stolen, reports CTV News.
Vandals had broken into Kate MacEachern's shed stealing her ramps all the while being recorded on her surveillance video, according to SaltWire.com. MacEachern is a Canadian Armed Forces veteran who had just returned from a second tour near Ukraine front lines, giving aid to those there.
The vandals then went onto to steal the church bell. This theft comes in queue with a long list of other thefts of brass items across Nova Scotia recently.
MacEachern submitted screenshot pictures, and tips she had received from the public after asking for help. Using the tips she had received from the public, she eventually found the bell in Thorburn on an embankment. She states the bell had been brought back into the community and is being repaired. There was damage done to the top of the bell.
The RCMP is continuing its' investigation to follow any leads and realizes that community played a big role in finding the church bell.
