The Record reports that a man has been arrested after stealing a monumental candle from St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Waterloo.

The candle, which is three feet tall was stolen by a 43-year old man. The candle's monetary value was $386, and not found. Two weeks later the same man stole a phone from Monarch Dentistry in the Waterloo Time Square.

After being arrested, he pled guilty to two charges of theft. This man has a long history of criminal activity and is known for being addicted to crystal methamphetamine. He has periods of sobriety where he can work and has counselling, states defence lawyer Stephanie Krug.

Currently the man is homeless after relapsing and losing his apartment in Kitchener.

Awaiting his verdict, he spent 12 days in custody and Justice Dominique Kennedy assented to the reccomendation of Stephanie Krug and the Crown Prosecutor, Amanda Rivera that the man's sentencing would be as follows: the time served and 18 months of probation. He is also banned from the dentist's office and the church.
