Church (Former)

As reported by the Western Standard, Saint-Romain Catholic Church in Quebec has completely burned down in April.
The 92-year old church is a total loss to the community and nothing left remains of it. Fire crews from surrounding areas like Lambton, Courcelles, Nantes, Disraeli, Lac-Megantic and La Gaudeloupe were called in to aid in the incident.
The reported time of the fire was around 6:30 p.m. on the Monday. By the time firefighters reached the church, efforts were spent on containing the fire and not of trying to save the church. The building was beyond saving by that point. Focus on not letting the fire spread and lessening of damaging nearby buildings from the heat was crucial.
Activities in the surrounding area returned after the threat of the fire was managed and put out. Only one firefighter sustained minor injuries and no civilians were harmed.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and an investigation has been started by Surete du Quebec.
Saint-Romain Catholic Church had been a community stronghold since 1934. It was no longer in use for church services but had been repurposed for other activities in the community.
