As reported by CBC News the historic Ste. Anne's cross was stolen from the Tecumseh Heritage Centre between November 6-8, 2025.
The cross, which had been donated by the Knights of Columbus was housed by the Tecumseh Heritage Centre and was open for viewing by the public on Thursdays and Saturdays. The chairperson, Marilyn Prior had noticed it gone on Saturday, but had seen it last on the Thursday.
The cross is made of aluminum and attached to a heavy wooden post. The Essex County PP assumed that the cross could have been sold for scrap metal.
The cross is original to the Ste. Anne Parish in 1891. It was a part of their history and heritage. Prior asked that anyone with information contact the OPP.
