St. John the Evangelist Church in Toronto, Ontario, suffered a fire, for which the arsonist has now been charged, as CP24 reports. The Church community had felt shaken by the fire and now feels relieved that the perpetrator has been charged and plead guilty to setting the fire. A 'flammable device' had been thrown in through the window, and the flames began. Though damage was not extensive, it is worth noting that the entire structure of the Church is made of wood. The damage in total is estimated to be around $5,000. The firefighters came in time to put out the fire before more damage could be done. The Church closed for two weeks while repairs were made. The Mayor, John Tory paid a visit to the Toronto Church, discussing the incident and showing his support.
